I had this Magnatone bass that I bought in a pawn shop in like 1978, and I kept taking the thing apart and doing things to it until it was basically a bunch of parts, half of which I lost. A couple of years ago I found another neck on eBay and got Rob Hacker, bass luthier to the Live Music Capital of the World, here in Austin, you know, and he put it all together for me, with a cool single coil pickup. A real Frankenstein beast. I used it on a bunch of recordings, then put it back into circulation with all my other vintage stuff. All rivers lead to the sea, you know… or eBay.
