I dig David Goodis. He’s not just another noir writer, a guy who writes about crime and mean streets. His books are quirky and weird, gritty and grimy in a unique way. When the protagonist starts getting yelled at and abused by a fat woman, and he’s busted by the cops for walking down the street with a guilty conscience showing like a billboard on Times Square, you know you are reading a David Goodis novel.
